It was shocking enough when six high school football players were accused of sodomizing six younger teammates with a broomstick during training camp. But the scandal was raised to a whole new level when the coaches were accused of turning a blind eye to the hazing.
Since then, Robertson High's head football coach and all five assistants have resigned, and prosecutors are considering charges against adults and youngsters alike.
What a terrible situation. I believe for hazing to get this far it is probably part of the culture. Coaches have the responsibility to ensure that this is not part of the culture. The time to stop hazing is before it starts. It could be that the coaches honestly didn't think anything terrible was going on. However, that's no excuse.
BTW I don't get why these macho football players resort to sexual assault. There must be some sort of psychological reason that hazing often turns to quasi homosexual acts.
I don't know what the hell is wrong with people. I think they resort to sexual hazing because it is the last thing that big MACHO football players want done to them.

You can bet if it was a girl there would be NO CONSIDERATION! What part of rape do they not understand.
Are you saying that if they raped a girl they would not be facing charges? or are you saying that if they raped a girl there would definitely be charges? If there was a public rape with several witnesses the fallout would be much worse than this. Look at the Duke rape case. That turned out to be false (or it was likely false).
If it was a girl there would definately be charges. Guys have kept there mouths shut because of pride or whatever. In diferent ways just as bad. Charges are a no brainer.
I see what you're saying. It just seems like at some schools this is part of the culture in football. It is still considered accepted behavior by some. You'd think with all the publicity this type of thing has been getting people would know better
Hazing is one thing. Rape and turning a blind eye to an atrocity like this are deplorable.
Excellent point jb, I am glad I did not play sports, this act is just completely uncalled for. A nd the boys just let it happen. wjhat is wrong with them.
Now that is a big desire to play!!!
The superintendent said that it was a "violent form of bullying...". This wasn't "bullying" this was rape. "Penetration however slight constitutes rape". This refers to the rape of a male as well as a female. Rape is a power play. The rapists wants to show that he is in charge. There are several different aspects of rape. A woman can be charged with rape in the case of an underaged boy, sexual attack on someone she has imprisoned, inter alia. These students imprisoned the victims and then raped them with a broomstick. This is not "hazing". This is,again, not "Bullying". This is criminal activity that demonstrates that the perpetrators involved are degenerates and must be brought to justice by the courts. This kind of behavior is anti-social. The coaches who downplayed the matter are themselves guilty of complicity. A similar occurrence happened in my area,Buffalo,NY,recently. Only this happened on a school bus with the coaches nearby,in seats only inches away, while it was occuring right in front of them. The coaches did nothing to stop it,then claimed they did not know it was happeing.Atrocious, unconscionable and deviant behavior on the part of the perpetrators and their coaches.
